Allied Telesis unveils eco-friendly AT-FS7xx family of unmanaged switches
Chiasso, Switzerland. 26 January 2010 – Allied Telesis has pioneered enhanced versions of the AT-FS7xx family of advanced switches. The low power, eco-friendly unmanaged switches will replace existing products of the same name, and are up to 56% more power efficient models.
The AT-FS705L, AT-FS708, AT-FS716L, AT-FS724L and AT-FS708POE v2 switches employ minimize and measurement technology to ensure only the minimum power is driven into shorter cable lengths to significantly lower power consumption and maintain highly efficient power supplies in enterprise networks. In addition, Allied Telesis’ proprietary ECO-Switch technology on the front panel disables LEDs when they are not needed, reducing the amount of wasted energy when not in use. As a result, these models offer the lowest power consumption of any comparable products on the market.
Melvyn Wray, Senior VP of Product Marketing EMEA at Allied Telesis, commented, “Our aim is to provide customers with the most power efficient networking solutions possible and with reduced power consumption, our unique ECO-Switch means we are able to deliver this. On top of this, we are cutting down on manufacturing materials and making our switches up to 30% smaller in size, which not only makes the switches more manageable to install, but also reduces supply chain logistics, lowering fuel consumption during transportation. The AT-FS7xx family represents another step towards greener business practices.”
The AT-FS705L incorporates 5 ports with internal AC power supply, and the AT-FS708 and AT-FS708POE v2 have 8 ports. The AT-FS716L and AT-FS724L have 16 and 24 ports respectively, both feature an internal power supply and are rackmountable, saving on installation space.
These updated products will be available from Allied Telesis from February 2010.
